Montessori Lead Guide for Children’s House (Preschool Teacher)
Montessori School of Duluth in Duluth, Minnesota, is seeking a full-time Children’s House Lead starting at the beginning of the school year — August 2023. We are looking for someone who wants a long-term position at MSD and someone who is reliable and great with children. We are seeking kind and calm individuals who want to work.
Montessori School of Duluth is a private, independent school for children 16 months of age through 6th grade. For over 35 years, Montessori School of Duluth has provided exceptional preschool, kindergarten, and elementary education to children in Minnesota’s Twin Ports. Through the years, our goal has remained the same. We guide each child to become a happy, self-motivated learner with a positive self image and global perspective.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Job duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Full time teaching responsibilities as the AMI Guide for MSD’s Children’s House
- Provide a safe and warm environment to encourage optimal development of children ages 2.5-6 using Montessori principles
- Observe behaviors and maintains records
- Model grace and courtesy
- Attend open houses and teacher in-service or training as directed by head of school
- Carry out all specific procedures and responsibilities as outlined by the MSD Staff Handbook and MSD Policies and Procedures
- Provide presentations, lessons, and group gatherings that meet the needs of each child
- Help children to work cooperatively in an atmosphere of respect, using models of behavior and intervention
- Make needed materials and plan activities
- Report accidents and concerns immediately to Head of School
- Communicate with families daily regarding concerns or issues
- Communicate with families weekly through email or classroom app on general happenings in the classroom
- Model professionalism and leadership in the classroom
- Effectively communicate needs to assistant teachers and aides
- Involvement in conducting parent orientation in the beginning of the school year and parent information sessions during the school year
- Drafting needed documents (i.e. report cards) to inform parents on student progress
- Receiving feedback and communicating with parents for student performance when needed
- Other duties that may be assigned by the Head of School or of her designate
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- At least a bachelor’s degree in early education or a related field.
- At least three years of previous experience working in early childhood education.
- AMI/AMS certification is preferred but not required.
- Ability to pass a background check.

COMPENSATION
Responsible to: Head of School
Hours: 7:30 AM – 4 PM, M-F
Payment Rate: Salary
Job Type: Full-time, Full-year
Pay: $38,000.00 – $42,000.00 per year
Work Location: In person
