How to Apply

Making the right choice for your child’s education is important. We strive to make this process as simple as possible with the understanding that finding the right fit is important. Whether you are looking for quality care for your toddler, a foundation for learning for your preschooler, or an individualized learning environment for your Elementary student, we encourage you to start with a visit.


1Prospective Family Tour
Schedule your tour online, call 218.728.4600, or email info@montessoriduluthmn.org

You’ll get to tour our school campus, and have the chance to meet with our Head of School to talk about the Montessori Method and the educational goals you have for your child.

2Application
Please apply through our third-party tuition management group, TUIO, at this link:

Please note that record of vaccinations are due no later than the child’s first day of attendance, and a Health Care Summary form (to be filled out by a physician) is due within 30 days of their first day of attendance. Additional information such as teacher recommendations and conference reports from previous schools or care centers are also appreciated.

3Interview
After we receive your application we will contact you to schedule an interview.

  • Child interviews with Guide(s)
  • Parents briefly meet with Guide(s)
  • Family interviews with the Head of School
  • Parents do a 20-minute observation in the classroom
  • New Elementary students may visit school for a day if in session

4Acceptance
After a family interview is completed, you will be notified of an admissions decision. The offer will remain valid for 2 weeks. Accepted families confirm start date as well as after-care and/or before-care needs to our Head of School. The $400 enrollment fee is due at this time to secure your spot; your program choice and before/after-care will be entered into TUIO. The enrollment fee covers practical life materials, as well as snacks for your child throughout the year.
5Online Tuition Management
Families will receive a link to set up their online payment plan through our third-party tuition management group, TUIO. MSD offers four convenient tuition payment plans:

  • One-payment plan: Due July 1
  • Two-payment plan: Due July 1 and January 1
  • Nine-payment plan: First payment due prior to enrollment
  • Twelve-payment plan: First payment due prior to enrollment

6Orientation
Once all enrollment paperwork is complete, families set up an orientation schedule with their child’s lead guide. This includes an overview of our communications app Brightwheel, review of the MSD Family Handbook, and answers to any last questions.
